I looked at him for a long time, I didn't know what I was feeling, but it wasn't bad. I started laughing and fell on the floor. Alex made a confused look and said, "Val? What's so funny!" He said, thinking that I was laughing at him. "I'm not laughing at you I promise! I'm just so," I burst out with laughture not knowing why I was laughing. Alex smiled and began to laugh with me. Finally, we stopped. Having to take deep breaths to catch our breath. I put my elbow on his shoulder and we both looked up, into each others eyes. For those few moments I felt safe. Then, he leaned over, and kissed me. Time stopped, nothing was moving. Then, my father opened the door. "Valentine!" He yelled as I quickly turned around and stood up, brushing my dress off.

I stood there, trying to find words to explain what he had just saw. "Dad- I- I can't explain." "Well you better do some explainging after what you promised your mother?" "Oh God...I forgot my promise!" I said as tears began to fall to the floor. Alex stood up, imidiatly feeling protective. He wrapped his arms around em and tucked his head in my shoulder. "It's alright." He said, not even knowing what I had promised before ym mother died. "No, I promised my mother I wouldn't get my first kiss until I was 15. And ready for heart break." He stepped away and grabbed my hands, "I'm not going to break your heart Valentine. I would never do that to you."

I smiled, feeling safe and then wrapped my arms around his shoulders. He whispered in my ear, "I love you Valentine." I closed my eeys and nodded my head
