I covered my eyes and cried for a moment and then stopped again. I sat on the bed and uncovered his face. "Why would you do this to me?" I said in tears. "I don't love her. We were promised." He said, looking at the bed. I crossed my arms and took a deep breath. "Why ddin't you tell me you had a wife." He shrugged and then looked at me. "Because I didn't want you to think I was a cheater or that I loved you both."

I opened my door and told her to come back in. She looked at him for a moment and then back to me. "Is it true you guys were promised?" She nodded her head, "Yes. I grew up with Alex. He was my best friend, we have been promised since before birth." I looked at Alex and then sighed. "Do you love him?" I asked. She looked at me very scared. "Honestly? No. But, I loved him as my best friend and he still cheated on me." "And I'm sorry! But we always knew we didn't love each other." Alex defended. "Then why did you say in the meadow when we were 10, the day we got married that all you ever wanted was me!?" I couldn't breathe, tears started to fill up.

I looked at Alex and began to cry. Alex tried to ignor my cries and talk back to his wife. "Because, I didn't know Valentine." I stepped in and screamed in Alex's face. "You told me the same thing! You weren't under any stupid spell! You thought she was BETTER! You left me for two whole years from that stupid plastic barbie doll that didn't even love you back!" I screamed at the top of my lungs in his face and then began crying so hard, i could've probably filled an ocean. "Valentine please!" He yelled as I ran out of the room and away to the deck. I ran down the stairs to the bow as tears filled my eyes and left a wet trail every where I went.

I heard foot steps behind me, and a soft whispering voice. "Why are you crying dear young Valentine?" I felt a big arm being wrapped around my shoulders. I knew it was Possey. He tucked me away in his arms and cradled me. "Tell Possey what's wrong." I started to reach for a tear that was rolling down my cheek but then felt Possey's fingers brush it away. "Alex, he's married. And he told me that all he's ever wanted was me, but he told that to his wife that he was only promised to as well. He fell for that mermaid girl and then told me that she put him under a spell but all he thought of was me." I began crying loudly and Possey hugged me tighter.

"Valentine. Sometimes, the love of your life. Is right under your nose. And maybe Alex, no matter how much he says, isn't the one. And someday, you will find a wonderful man that loves you and will forever. Because you are a beautiful girl, and you deserve someone better then Alex." I smiled and looked up at Possey. He smiled back and kissed my forehead. "Alright now go have fun while you can." He said with a smile and an encouraging shove off his lap. "Thanks Possey." I said as I headed off back to my room.

I looked through the window and saw Alex sitting on my bed, tears in his eyes and holding my pillow to his chest. I didn't know where his wife was. I opened the door slowly and smiled at him. He didn't smile but apologized. "I'm SO, sorry. I was young and I didn't know what I wanted. And after being with another beautiful girl like Ava. I still like you most of all." I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. He smiled back at me and laughed. "You forgive me?"  I turned around and saw Possey looking through the window. He looked sad. He turned his back to us and walked away.

"Hang on Alex..." I ran after Possey. "Possey! Are you alright!" I yelled at him. He turned around and took a deep breath with his eyes closed. "No, I'm not okay Valentine. I just tried to help you, and you gave him your heart again. You are just going to get hurt!" "Possey, I don't understand! No one else on this boat loves me!" He rolled his eyes and clenched his teeth. "That you know of."
